Sauvignon Blanc, Bucher Vineyard, RRV, 2020
We hand-harvested the Sauvignon Blanc around 2 am and brought it to the winery ice cold. We whole cluster pressed directly to a mix of new and used French oak barrels for fermentation. The wine remained on lees and was stirred through malolactic fermentation. After 11 months of aging, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This is such a special vineyard for growing Sauvignon Blanc. Tucked away in a cool pocket of Russian River, the Clone 1 Sauvignon Blanc gives aromas of musque, tropical notes of pineapple, guava, and starfruit, and notes of white grapefruit follow. The palate is surprisingly lush with mango nectar notes, apricot and grapefruit zest. The finish is round and lush from the barrel aging and malolactic fermentation and then has delicate and lingering acidity.
This is such a deliciously versatile wine and can be paired with your favorite meal, or even on its own thanks to its lush palate with a gentile acidity and just a hint of tannin.
