Rosé Of Zinfandel, Grey Palm Estate Vineyard, DCV, 2020
Our Rose of Zinfandel is grown right on our estate property. It comes from a small corner on the northern part of the vineyard that ripens super slowly so these grapes get plenty of hang time without over-ripening. We hand pick these grapes starting at 4 am and immediately press them off the skins to tank so we get only minimal color and skin contact. The juice takes a full month to ferment and stays in a stainless steel tank.
The delicate color is the first thing to notice about this wine. Minimal skin contact allows for just a kiss of pink. The next thing is how fragrant this wine is! Aromas of farmer’s market strawberries, lemon zest and first of spring rose petals really just out of the glass. The palate continues with the fruit tones, lemon curd and a subtle note of pie crust before finishing with bright and crisp acidity. Delicious! Drink now through 2022.
