About

Our Vineyards

Estate Vineyard

Dry Creek Valley

Consisting of 5 acres of Zinfandel and 1 acre of Petite Sirah, our beautiful Estate vines were planted in 2000 by the late Ulises Valdez – acclaimed and beloved Sonoma County grape grower.

He graciously shared and planted our Zinfandel vines with cuttings from the magical St. Peter’s Church Vineyard. We are truly honored to be a part of the history of Ulises’ dedication and generosity to the wine industry.

In recent years, the vineyard is farmed by our own Juan Soriano and the team at Patin Vineyard Management.

Watson Vineyard

Watson Vineyard

Dry Creek Valley

Our old vine zinfandel fruit comes from the six acre Watson Vineyard. Family-owned and operated, this vineyard is directly adjacent to our winery so the fruit never travels on a public road. These vines were planted in 1976 by Santa Rosa native and legendary farmer Mike Mazzoni, who’s varied legacy includes pioneering, and being  instrumental to the growth and success of grape growing and wine making in Sonoma County.

CAST Wines has been the exclusive destination of all Watson Vineyard zinfandel grapes since our inaugural 2012 vintage and a multi-year agreement assures our continued access to this quality fruit. Farming is overseen by our winemaking team.

Bacigalupi Vineyards

Bacigalupi Vineyards

Russian River Valley

In 1956 Charles and Helen Bacigalupi purchased 121 acres on Westside Road, a few miles south of the town of Healdsburg. The Bacigalupi name gained recognition during the 1976 Paris tasting when the 1973 Chardonnay from Château Montelena (predominantly from Bacigalupi Vineyards) triumphed over many acclaimed French wines.

The vineyards now consist of 125 acres of premium grapes, which have been planted and managed for the past 30 years by the family, supplying fruit to some of the great wine producers of our area.

Sourced by CAST since 2014, the Bacigalupi fruit is some of the best in Sonoma County and we are honored to be able to craft our Pinot Noir with their grapes.

Quail Hill Vineyard

Quail Hill Vineyard

Russian River Valley

Purchased by Lynn Fritz in 1980, Quail Hill Vineyard is at the heart of Lynmar Estate, with 17 distinct blocks planted with 14 Pinot Noir and 4 Chardonnay clones.

A true jewel of the Russian River Valley, we couldn’t be happier to source our Chardonnay fruit, since 2018, from Quail Hill.

Pyramid Vineyard

Pyramid Vineyard

Alexander Valley

The Hawkes family has been growing grapes in the Alexander Valley for more than 30 years. Today they own and farm three vineyards, all planted on sparsely soiled hillsides, and all yielding small amounts of highly intense fruit.

Their newest vineyard, planted on Chalk Hill Road in 1996, is named the Pyramid for the extremely sharp, often terraced hills on which it grows. The entire Pyramid Vineyard is nearly 120 acres, only 18 acres of which are planted, all in Cabernet Sauvignon.

Sourced by CAST since 2015, our Pyramid Cabernet Sauvignon shows the quality of the fruit and their efforts perfectly, with its many layers and beautifully concentrated fruit.

Bucher Vineyard

Bucher Vineyard

Russian River Valley

Bucher Vineyard is well-known among Pinot Noir and Chardonnay aficionados and used by some of the most highly regarded producers in Northern California.

Farmer John Bucher applies the same care and approach to a small notch of Sauvignon Blanc which has been purchased by CAST wines since 2017 for our flagship Sauvignon Blanc. This vineyard sits in a cool micro-climate allowing for more developed and flavorful fruit.

Schreyer Vineyard

Schreyer Vineyard

Dry Creek Valley

In 1982 the Schreyer Vineyard was planted on a beautiful rolling site situated 300 feet above the southwestern Dry Creek Valley. From that year forward the Schreyers have consistently and sustainably produced high quality wine grapes including the Cabernet Sauvignon sourced by CAST starting in 2019.

The vines benefit from cool early mornings, warm sunny days and cold nights resulting in expressive character, deeply layered flavors and complexity.

CAST is proud to work with these special grapes and cannot wait to release the first vintage of this great Cabernet Sauvignon.
